#1709 – Power Systems Engineer, BSEE

Location: St. Paul, MN

Position Summary:

My client is one of the nation’s largest fuels refineries processing primarily heavy crude oil and producing consumer fuels including gasoline, diesel, jet and other motor vehicle fuels. The facility operates over 5,000 pieces of machinery.

As an Electrical Power Engineer you will manage the facilities’ electric distribution system. Working with other engineers and plant personnel, you will provide electrical reliability engineering support to meet the reliability plan for electrical utilization assets. This is a technical position responsible for evaluating design, code compliance and optimization of complex power systems. You will conduct testing, verification, corrective actions and commissioning of these electrical power systems ensuring they meet the highest safety, environmental and regulatory standards. Working closely with electrical utilities to define and communicate electrical activities within the plant, you will maintain refinery operations and keep management informed of these activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• B.S. Electrical Engineering or related
• 5+ year’s applicable power systems experience within power generation, refining, chemical or processing/industrial manufacturing environments.
• Strong working knowledge/ understanding of electrical standards, industry trends and governing body standards
• Understanding of the engineering documents associated with electrical systems (one lines, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams).
• Experience with minimum voltage distribution.

#1708 – Reliability Engineer, Electrical/Power Systems

Location: St. Paul, MN

Position Summary

My client is one of the nation’s largest fuels refineries processing primarily heavy crude oil and producing consumer fuels including gasoline, diesel, jet and other motor vehicle fuels. The facility operates over 5,000 pieces of machinery. The Electrical Reliability Engineering team oversees the reliability of the electrical equipment including over 2000 motors, some over 8500 horsepower. The installed equipment is in operation around the clock. You will be part of a 200 person team that is responsible for equipment maintenance, reliability, engineering, construction and operation.

• Provide ownership to one or more electrical reliability programs for a specific type of equipment (i.e., distribution assets or motors) including purchasing specs, repair quality standards and reliability strategies
• Develop risk assessments and long-term plans for critical equipment
• Define reliability strategies for critical refinery electrical equipment using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and standards for preventative/predictive maintenance (PM/PdM)
• Advise or define PM programs for general purpose equipment
• Comply with process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis requirements
• Monitor critical equipment using transformer oil analysis, thermal imaging and various other condition based monitoring tools
• Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on equipment failures
• Advise and assist on-site electricians, planners and supervisors on electrical repairs
• Provide selection and specification of new electrical equipment on capital projects, participate as a technical adviser on capital projects and turnarounds

QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.S. Electrical Engineering or related
• 5+ year’s applicable reliability experience within the power generation, refining, chemical or processing industry.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical motors (5kv and greater).

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for us will have a 2-5 year proven track record in technical sales preferably from within the electronics or test engineering industry. A Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering is desirable, but not required. We are looking for individuals who can sell value, execute a disciplined sales process, and deliver the close on profitable business.

My client, a manufacturer of specialty materials is seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer to lead the transfer of new products into manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates with plant engineering functions in specifying and selection of new equipment and/or equipment necessary for supporting new product requirements. This responsibility includes assisting with the preparation of machine specifications and capital expenses justification.
• Participates with plant engineering functions in the installation of new equipment and/or the modification of existing equipment for running products.
• Responsible for the development of the production process used for manufacturing new materials/products.
• Implement statistical process control procedures (SPC) aimed at avoiding defects.
• Transfers new products and related processes to Manufacturing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.S. in Engineering - Mechanical or Manufacturing is preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in the introduction of new products into manufacturing (NPI).
• Strong skills in process development & improvement, utilizing such tools as SPC, FMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, Process and Material Control Plans, Gage R&R studies, etc.
• Prior experience with reel-to-reel or web handling processes a plus.

• Develop, administer and lead the company’s quality programs in accordance with customer and company requirements.

• Develop, track and document continuous improvement methods and progress with an emphasis on utilizing lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques.

The ideal candidate will be a degreed engineer with five plus years of progressive manufacturing/quality experience preferably in the automotive or heavy-duty truck industry. Experience in the following areas is advantageous: ISO9001, TS16949, Six Sigma, PPAP, APQP, completion of 8-Ds, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, assembly, metal forming, die-casting, injection molding and electro-mechanical systems.

The position will have responsibilities at multiple locations and must be able to travel between 20-40% of the time.

Location: Spencer, IN

Provides focused quality engineering leadership to contribute support to engineering group, manufacturing, system/services support and the materials group. Develops, establishes and maintains quality engineering metrologies, systems, and practices which meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Serves as a Quality representative to improve awareness, visibility, communication on quality initiatives to support departmental, functional, site, divisional and corporate quality goals and priorities. Provides focused quality engineering support within complaint investigation activities and system/service support for the business unit and other areas.

Key Responsibilities:
• Proactively investigates, identifies, and implements best-in-class Quality Engineering practices.
• Establish effective corrective action plans as they relate to complaint closures.
• Lead in implementation of quality assurance plans, and CAPA systems documentation to meet or exceed internal and external requirements.
• Applies sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving quality issues.
• Review and approve product, process, software qualification and validation and other change control related documentation of complaints file.
• Acts as an effective leader or team member in supporting product/process assurance plans, which include all required elements. Identify and implement effective process control systems to support the development, qualification, and on-going manufacturing of products to meet or exceed internal and external requirements
• Generate internal quality documentation such as quality plans, standard operating procedures and inspection procedures. Ensure company regulatory, FDA and ISO compliance in all areas of responsibilities.
• Participate in Product Review Boards. Identify non-conformance trends and develop technical investigation plans. Investigates and analyze customer/internal complaints.
• Identifies industry best practices. Act as an effective leader or team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions, and practices.
• Utilize standard statistical analysis and problem solving techniques to determine product acceptance, evaluate process capabilities and assist Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development Engineering in setting drawing tolerances (i.e. perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis).
• Support process optimization initiatives. Perform capability studies, Gage R&R, DOE (software product, process, equipment, machine, etc.).
• Performs technical risk assessments and provide independent review at defined design reviews for process changes (i.e. develop new/update process FMEA).

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years experience in a quality engineering role. Strong written and verbal communication skills are desired. Previous demonstrated use of Quality tools and methodologies. Six Sigma problem solving methodologies.

#1703 - Test Engineer

Location: Maple Grove, MN

My client, a small, growing electronics company is seeking an experienced Test Engineer with a strong knowledge of both analog and digital electronics. You will be part of a new product design team helping to create high-end custom test fixtures and assemblies used by electronics manufacturers around the world. A varied, hands-on background in hardware and some software is ideal. An ideal background would include the following:

• B.S. Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Knowledge of digital & analog electronics and troubleshooting.
• Strong skills in the use of test equipment such as DMM’s, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.
• Ability to apply Ohm’s law and digital logic to perform circuit analysis.
• Strong skills in circuit design, schematic generation & reading.
• Some experience with computer programming - C++ is highly preferred but will also consider Delphi and C#.
• Prior experience in any of the following is a plus: LabWindows/CVI, GUI program development, Communications Protocols (RS232), Windows API programming, LabView and/or Assembly
